NATIONAL NUCLEAR ENRICHMENT FACILITY 

(Also known as Louisiana Energy Services) 

Located in Lea County New Mexico, this $5 Billion uranium enrichment facility became the first of its kind to be built in the United States in more than 30 years. The facility was designed to enrich uranium to 5% by spinning centrifuges to separate, isolate and increase the concentration of fissionable U235 isotope by using the next generation gas centrifuges.

CJ Project Management is providing staff augmentation and has been instrumental in the construction of over 1,000,000 SF in several buildings on a 640 acre site. This phased project began construction in 2007, started operation in 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in 2015. As part of the firm's commitment to service excellence, CJ personnel remains on site to oversee final completion.

CORRECTIVE ACTION PROGRAM COORDINATION

CJ Project Management and other team members implemented the site's Corrective Action Program (CAP); a strategic program geared towards facilitation and coordination of corrective events; monitoring performance, and reinforcing standards for cause evaluations that address significant and complex equipment, human errors and the resolution of organizational performance problems. CJ assisted in obtaining resources and sharing performance trends, lessons-learned and self assessments.

COMMISSIONING PROJECT MANAGEMENT

As a member of the Commissioning team, CJ personnel monitored the various stages of the installation activities prior to testing and commissioning to ensure that systems operate as designed to facilitate the enrichment process.

SCHEDULING AND COST CONTROL

CJ provided staff augmentation to provide scheduling and cost control for integration of the entire site project schedule.  This was implemented to provide a single source of information for all scheduled activities and their associated costs.

WORK PLANNING AND CLOSURE

Delivery of a quality project does not happen by accident; it is achieved by proper planning and adequate monitoring of the installation activities.  Work planning is therefore a critical aspect of the nuclear installation process.  CJ was there to play a part.

IT SUPPORT AND PROCUREMENT

The site cannot run efficiently without a quality IT program, CJ is providing IT support, and participated in contracting for procurement of materials and services.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT - SPECIALTY SERVICES

The site needs specialty systems to operate properly and to meet regulatory standards, CJ provided project management and construction contract administration activities tailored for site specific non-standard systems and was there to monitor their progress through completion.
